Guys, where were we?

LOST haters, you're not going to like what I have to say.

Spoilers ahead. Stop now if you actually DVR'd this episode.

The finale, was, for me... a fitting end to the best show ever. Need a very simple and netted out recap of last night's finale?  Check this out.

I can't tell you the last time I bawled that much at the end of anything on TV.

True Losties like myself have been sort of on the fence this season, yes, it is true. Great episodes mixed in with a few snoozers left us wondering, where the hell is this going?

The reality is.... there is no perfect ending for all of us. That was the best part about Lost, and I am happy the writers left the ending open to interpretation. Because, HELLO??? isn't that what this ride has been all about from the beginning?

The blogs, the podcasts, the ARGS, the endless dissection of each episode. Did any true fan want every answer tied up into a neat bow?

Not me.

I had an inkling a few episodes ago that the sideways flash was sort of a purgatory, or way-station if you will... when the dialogue of "letting go" seemed to come up every once in awhile. How clever, I thought... to give a nod to the unliked theorists from Season 1 who annoyingly kept insisting that the Island was purgatory.  Well, either that or Jurassic Park.  heh.

Brilliant!

Oh how I love when Jack kicked MIB/Fake Locke/Smokey's ass doing a Keanu Reeves-styled ninja kick from that cliff. (For a split second, I thought we were in The Matrix). And even though I knew things weren't going to bode well for our hero after the stabbing, I took pleasure in Kate finishing the job. And loved Hurley taking over guard duty (although I take slight issue to the fact that he took Ben on as his #2 so quickly...)  I mean, really?  The Sayid/Shannon thing bugged me a little too.

Reading the commentary from this morning, I see many people are quite disturbed at the spiritual direction the end mapped to. Again, I say, if you've followed this series all the way from Episode 1 you can't deny the plot was SEEPING in religious undertones. So why are you surprised now?

People are also miffed that they didn't get all the answers.  Well, if you were looking for an answer to every question, you didn't get it. Deal with it. No one promised that, and in fact THAT WAS THE BEST PART of the show. It's not a cop-out from the writers. Remember, part of their job was to track the audience away from FIGURING OUT THE END OF THE SHOW.

NO, the characters were not dead from the beginning. They all lived on that island together. They bonded, they time-traveled, some died, some flew away in a giant jetplane at the end.  Each of them met their demise on a very long timeline, not together. The beauty is in the fact each created their own ending.

The last scene is, appropriately... timeless.  In every sense of the word.

Of course that's my thoughts/commentary, and yours may be totally different.

BAM! See what I mean? The discussion continues forever.

Once again, brilliant!

Thank you, LOST, for providing such thoughful entertainment over these six years.  What the hell am I going to do with my free time now.

Sadness.

If you didn't stay up into the wee hours of the morning, you may have missed this. Where are our island inhabitants now?

Watch and see.

Friday Fragmentary Thinking

So much to say.

I just haven't been in the mood to write it down. Or have the time, really. It's been a crazy month, and June looks like it will be equally as crazy.

So this post is just a mish-mash of what's been going on in my head lately.

Yesterday, we went to the zoo for David's first grade class trip. It was great. Great weather, great time.

The coolest thing? The prairie dogs, the bears, the otters, the turtles, the cheetahs!... oh heck, just everything!  We'll be going back soon to see everything we missed.  It's hard to fit it all in with just a few hour window.

Pictures courtesy of my main man, S. who basically just followed the pack of Moms, Dads, and kids with my new camera.

Last week was David's 7th birthday party. This was the first party I had at a party "place" instead of at home. He had a great time. We had family and friends from school. I must admit I liked not having to cook or clean up. lol.

Can I express my frustation at that 47 year old "celebrity" who is pregnant? Should I comment that I am a little PO'ed that by not disclosing HOW she got pregnant is merely giving a bad education to women out there that think they can pop out babies into their late 40's? With their own body parts?  Who freakin' knows...maybe she is in the lucky .00005%.  I certainly made that percentage on the flip side of unluckiness.

Perhaps I should convert to scien.tology. There's one thing I haven't tried yet.

Lastly, but not leastly... who watched Grey's last night on the edge of their freaking seats?

And who's with me on Sunday watching THE LAST episode of LOST??? I am beyond sad to see this show end.  Prepare for some live tweeting and lots of tears on Sunday.

Potty Mouth

Sawyer is one of my most favorite characters on Lost.

I stumbled on the most precious gems of Lost compilations today featuring (hello!) Sawyer and a couple other Lost friends expressing their disgust over the years. Nothing makes a comic relief statement like a bleeping! expletive.

(sigh)

I'm going to miss this show...

667

This post is going to be a lot about nothing. You see, I popped on to my blog dashboard and saw my last post was #666 on BagMomma.

Cleary, I don't need any more bad mojo around these parts so I present to you, post 667... representing all things not connected with the devil.

Ok, so now that's out of the way.

I've been a bit tired and headachey this week, and I guess I need to attribute that to lack of sleep. I've been doing a lot of TV watching this week which has been cutting in to my sleepytime.

Of course, Monday I couldn't bear to go to bed before confirming the rumors were true- Jake picked Vienna on The Bachelor. Oh hell no! Truth be told, I was prepared. You see, I read one of those spoiler sites that mapped out the entire season before it even started. Why do I even care about this crap, I'll never understand... but I was hooked.

Poor Tenley was left curbside, like a real-life horrifying Disney plot (her profession prepared her well)... like when Bambi's mother was shot by a hunter, or Nemo's mother was eaten by a shark. The audience was equal parts shocked and let down. I have to hand it to the braintrust from The Bachelor... geniuses. Instead of the traditional happy ending, the villainess wins. You know Jake's mother is having a sh!t fit over this.

Credit: ABC

And Jake must be some sort of Golden Ticket for ABC. Now he's on DWTS too! Talk about extending his fifteen minutes of fame... three TV seasons with this dude. He's going to need the extra cash, because we all know Vienna is high maintenance. Kidding! Not.

I'm also blissfully taking in the last episodes of Lost. I am so bummed that this is it. I've never truly been addicted to a series like I have with Lost. No spoilers here, but I will say it looks like we reached the top of the mountain, and it's all downhill now.

This is the time when there is no "jumping the shark", and we finally get to see the plot and the characters go bonkers.  Love it.

TV Break! Celebs that would make cool BFF's

This blog isn't all infertility, all the time. Well, it has been lately, but I still have other things to share. You see, while I am waiting for the phone to ring (or not), I am watching TV and my computer monitor for Internet live-streaming.

Are you watching The Bachelorette? Because honestly, I am a sucker for these types of reality shows. Sort of like sitting down with a bag of potato chips and a 20oz. Coke. Salty and Sweet. How could you not like Jillian? She's full of spunk and moxie and even reads all the comments to her blog. Something tells me that she is one of the "more real" reality stars. She's probably kicking back right now in her PJ's and fuzzy bunny slippers watching her episodes eating cheese curls and hot dogs.

I approve of Jillian's casting off of Reid last night. Sorry. He might be a nice guy from my hometown in Philly, BUT he's too.... non-committal. Too... dull. You snooze, you lose my friend.

Speaking of moxie, my other addiction is So You Think You Can Dance. Hate the title, but love the host. Cat Deeley should be raking in the $$$, not Ryan Seacrest! Travesty!

One my blogging friends brought up the fact that Cat would probably be a very cool friend in real life. I agree! Cat would be fun to hang out with, and since she's tall she probably has big feet which means I could borrow her shoes! Have you seen her shoes?? In fair trade I could let her borrow my handbags. Wait... who am I kidding? She probably OWNS more than me. Scratch that, she definitely owns more than me.

Last, I totally need to clue you in on my lunchtime obsession. At 12noon, I tune into the Fox News Strategy Room for the Entertainment Hour with Jill Dobson. If you haven't been to the Strategy Room, well, HELLO! You must. It's internet streaming only (not on TV). Relax, my "left-wingers", this is a no-politics chat about everything celebrity. And I bet Jill would make for a cool friend IRL, too. Stick around for the other segments (weekdays, 9-5)... it's good stuff.

Sick time, Entertainment, and a Bitter Infertile

I am feeling tons better (thank you!) and back to work with my head firmly atop my torso.

The upside to being sick is a lot of couch time, and therefore, a lot of TV time. After copious amounts of channel surfing I've come to the conclusion that regular TV programming is pretty boring and repetitive. There are some exceptions.

I caught up on the Top Chef marathon last week and awaiting the finale. Is it me, or is there something very magnetic about Tom Colicchio? He can cook for me anytime. lol.

I wasted hours I'll never get back watching Celebrity Rehab "Sober House" (is it wrong that I feel sad for Andy D.ick?) and Rock of Love (where do they GET these vapid skanks???)

But my favorite catch-up was Dr. 90210. He may be a master of plastic surgery, but Dr. Rey is a BONEHEAD when it comes to female reproduction. His wife (who seems really sweet, but spends far too much time locked up in their mansion) thought she "could" be pregnant. A conversation ensures where Dr. Rey says (and I am paraphrasing here)... "I just KNOW you are pregnant. You are MOODY and you have been eating A LOT." Wow. Now that is a diagnosis. When the test is ultimately negative, Mrs. (Hayley) Rey adds "my pregnancies never show up on a pregnancy test when my period is due". Apparently she is not infertile NOR a follower of Taking Charge of Your Fertility. For this fact, I am uber jealous, because I am reminded that most women are fertile beings like Hayley, not bitter and subfertile like me. Plus, her husband is a plastic surgeon. I mean, come ON!

I resisted throwing my banana peel at the TV mocking the injustices of the world.

I then thanked the heavens that Dr. Rey is not a Reproductive Endocrinologist. Although, if I am in the market for a boob job and a tummy tuck he's the guy I want doing it.

Perhaps I should take the money for the donor cycle and just get that done instead?

Nah. I'd rather be flabby with a baby in my arms.

Don't touch my remote!

Being at home for the month has been interesting so far. Since I've been taking it easy for the last week or two, I've had the opportunity to be a couch potato.

Not since college have I actually watched daytime TV. Really. I just don't turn on the TV during the day, even working from home.

I have to say that now that I have partaken in some TV watching, I've come to the conclusion that daytime TV is a joke.

"Maury", for instance. It is illogical to watch show after show on one subject: "Who's the Father?" These girls and boys need a reality check (or a stern slap across the face). Yesterday, I saw an episode that featured one young girl and THREE potential fathers. You guessed it, none were the father in the end. I don't know whether to lecture the television regarding safe sex, or take an ax to it. Angers me to no end.

And let's not forget the lovely "I'm having a baby" shows on those other channels. Today, a woman and a man ponder life with twins. Queue in the narrator, "Ann and John were expecting one boy and one girl, but to their surprise they had two boys upon delivery". New Mom says, (and I am paraphrasing here) "I was so surprised, but then I was worried and a little upset I had so many girl clothes and decor.... I really had my heart set on one of each..."

Ummmmm, Ann? How about being happy you gave birth to TWO healthy babies with beating hearts?
Geeeeeeez.... are you kidding me????

Probably the one show I found palatable was a show I saw on the Dis.cover.y Health Channel that documented the pregnancy of a woman who, after 6 years of infertility, got pregnant via IVF with.... sextuplets (3 embies put in, two split to identicals, all took). I found it moving, especially when she got to 20 weeks and discovered two had passed away (she eventually gave birth to quads). Poor girl's ultrasound was being filmed, and on camera she found out two of her babies died. Broke my heart.

But what truly took the cake was a show titled, "Half Man, Half T.ree". No, I am not kidding. The dude had tree limbs growing on his hands and feet. Not making that up. I was speechless on that one.

If I were a smart woman, I guess I would have had my IVF scheduled during the new Fall season. At least I wouldn't have to view reruns.

Instead, I revert to my favorite TV channel... CNN. Especially interesting this week with the Democratic Convention. 'Cause I'm all geeky like that....

Maybe I'll turn off the TV for the next few days. I'm worn out.

Intestinal Fortitude

My tummy hurts.

I sound like my 4 year old, but it's true. My stomach is not feeling good. In fact, it's been doing topsy turvys for a week now. I thought it could be related to my current state, but as the days go by I am thinking it's a stomach bug. Everytime I eat something, my stomach starts to gurgle and I make a quick stage left exit to the ladies room.

This is not suprising... hubby has noted that a few of his co-workers have had an intestinal virus of some sort, so no doubt I either picked it up through him, or, more likely, my son's daycare. David rarely gets sick, but he's become a master at being the "carrier" for all sorts of illnesses.

The school posts all recent "outbreaks" on the parents board at the entrance. Today, we have pink eye (a usual one), and whooping cough.

Is it no wonder that I try to touch NOTHING entering or leaving the building??? You try opening a hinged door with an elbow. I've mastered each doorway and stairwell. I also keep disinfectant wipes in my car, and wipe my hands down as I'm leaving. I suppose if there was an option for a Hazmat Shower at the door, I'd use that too.

Ok, question for the masses.

Who here watches "Jon and Kate Plus 8" on TLC? My son loves this show (S. does too...secretly). All I have to say is I can feel my blood pressure rising at the mere thought of having 8 kids under age 6 in one house. The sextuplet thing makes me break out in hives.

I also just realized that the family in the show lives relatively close to me. And I also wonder who her RE was (it had to have been local, right?). And, what meds she was on (it had to have been injectibles/iui, because I can't imagine an RE would knowingly transfer 6 embryos via IVF. ) Did they ever talk about that on the show?

It just boggles the mind.

Well, back to work.

Two days to go.

Greetings and Salutations!

I had almost decided to title this post "BagMomma's Back Biotch!" because I was so inspired by Britney Spears dramatic performance on the VMA's last night.

Please tell me you saw that washed-up trainwreck.

I happened to pop over just in time while I was also watching Big Brother (take that Evel and Daniele!) and I was completely horrified at the first sight of the back of Britney's head and those REALLY bad hair extensions.

Thank goodness I could then turn off the TV (I'm not into the MTV awards, I just wanted to see the crash and burn).

But anyway, HEY! I am back from a restful vacation. If you call 'restful' walking 10 miles a day in 93 degrees and 100% humidity.

I did get that mojito I wanted, and a few margaritas to boot. It actually was a nice getaway, and I can't tell you how much David LOVED this trip. Sort of like a non-stop sugar high all week. Rides, characters, swimming... he was 24/7 fun and the party member of the BagMomma Bunch.

My company sponsored a "pirate dinner and party" in Epcot and David was HOWLING he had so much fun. We danced and sang and it was THE BEST event I ever went to in my life. Thank you Big Blue.

We had to BUY an extra bag to pack David's souvenirs and bring them home.

Anyway, I am going to do a wrap-up post later about vacation. Unfortunately, today is my first day back to work. I have 620 new e-mails.

That's 77.5 I need to read every hour today.

Glad to be back.

I think.

Fevers and regrets

Who says the flu should keep you from blogging?

I'm actually feeling a bit better today, after last night trying to fight down my 104.5 fever. Suffice to say that I spent most of the night in the shower or under a cold, wet towel.

Note to self: showers hurt like hell when you have a raging fever.

My fever hasn't registered over 101 today (yet). I did a little work this morning, but promptly logged off the work laptop at 11am for the day.

I am just about to crawl into bed. But before I do....

did anyone see "The View" this week? Joan Rivers was guest hosting, and Barbara Walters asked the panel "what is/was your biggest regret in life?"

A pretty heavy question. Of course, Joy made a joke. And Elizabeth begged off the question with some wishy washy Mom answer, "I regret little things in a day, like I should have done this or that... but I am a Mom... so busy..." blah, blah... (I bet her answer really was she wish she didn't have the smackdown with Rosie, but just my opinion). Elizabeth, I am sure you have a deeper regret than showing up late to an appointment. Plueeze.....

Anyhoo, Joan Rivers (who I love, don't laugh) got all serious and said,"I wished I would have had another child."

Barbara, who has a daughter, nodded in agreement, and exclaimed the same regret. That knowing look on their face, I've seen it. I teared up. I don't usually get weepy watching The View.

It stung. All I could think of is fast forwarding 20 or 30 years (when I'm pushing 60-70) and thinking those words may come out of my mouth too.

Followed by ".... I tried, I really, really, tried".

So I asked myself, what is my big regret? And the answer was no surprise.... I waited too long to have children.

Because in my perfect world, I would love to have three. At least, I always visualized that.

And now, having two may end up as a miracle, if the stars and moon align.

What's your biggest regret?

and here I thought Victoria Beckham was a vain sourpuss

Did you catch the TV show last night featuring Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice)?

Please tell me you did. It was truly entertaining beyond words.

You know, I never got into the Spice Girls. Nor am I a fan of "football" (soccer) and David Beckham. I scratch my head each day when I peruse my favorite celeb sites wondering why on earth anyone cares about these two, I mean, really. Then they moved to the U.S. and all hell broke loose. All I knew was that Victoria was in a constant state of "paparazzi readiness", armed with hooker heels and short skirts and Jackie Onasis sized sunglasses that made her look like a bug.

So, I was channel surfing looking for something to watch before my date with Chef Ramsay, and I stumbled on the show, "Coming to America" featuring our friend and alien Posh Spice.

I laughed the whole hour. I really did.

Especially when she met the society ladies of the Hollywood Hills. The older woman in blue, with the "I have too much money and you don't ha ha so I can look like a clown in my makeup" look. She was priceless. And, Victoria's comment.... "well, she was blown-dry, wasn't she" referring to the woman's 80's Flock of Seagulls hair was hysterical.

I admire Posh. I do. She is rich. She is beautiful. She has a perfect nuclear family with a handsome man (also rich). She can buy a $17m house without deferring to her husband. She can fool the paparazzi by stopping in the local sex shop and having her stylist fashion a clone of her to thwart her photogs as they chase "bewildered porn Posh" in a big black Cadillac Escalade through L.A. She can toodle into Chopard to buy her husband a small "token" watch worth 65 grand. She can throw a baseball in her special made 4" tennis shoes (because ballerina flats are for frumps).

I'm not sure how scripted that show is (was it a one-time show or a series??), but if it is reality at all, I would love for Victoria to hire me as her personal assistant.

I have no shame. And I'd freely admit I'd love to be her assistant just to perchance get a good view of David Beckham's tattoos up close.

Sign me up.

Lost: season finale!

Oh my head hurts. I was up till 11pm last night watching the finale of Lost while also trying to watch the last hour of American Idol.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD,
do not read if you haven't watched last night's episode!!!

Who else's head is spinning?

A couple thoughts:

1. Why did Charlie die? Couldn't he have just ran out, let the looking glass flood and swim out? Or shut the door behind him? Here's my beef--- I would have rather seen Charlie die LAST week than this week. Because last week was just so tear-jerky and it would have been a better send off for Charlie.

2. WTF was up with that ending? I had an inkling early on into the episode that something was very odd about Jack's "flashback"? Are the remaining three seasons going to show "flash forwards?" or are they just focusing on what happens after they are rescued. Something tells me that Ben knew what he was talking about. I am fearful that all of my favorite characters are going to turn out BAD if that is the way it's going.
Also, Kate alluded to she was with a man, Sawyer?

3. Was that really Walt, or imaginary Walt?

4. I LOVED the scene where Hurley ran over the bad guys. And of course, that Sayid and Jin weren't shot after all.

5. Who was in the coffin? I am thinking Ben.

6. Did it seem to you that Jack alluded to the fact that his Dad was still alive in the flash-forward??? What the heck?

7. What's up with Naomi, is she bad..... and what about Penny??? Where the heck was she if not on the boat?

8. I am not into violence (don't get me wrong), but I LOVED when Jack beat the living sh*t out of Ben. The grand manipulator was finally put in his place.

I am more confused than ever. And I loved the episode. I just hope that this show isn't going towards the dark-side of Lost. Is this a space-time continuum storyline or are we know going to focus on what happened to the Losties after rescue???

And we have to wait until January, 2008 for more answers? arrgh!

What do you guys think??

Random thoughts

AI last night.....sigh.... where o where do I begin??? I still hold to my prediction that 3 boys will be the first to go home on American Idol. Unfortunately, we are stuck with Sanjaya and his hair for another week. Once again people.... WHY are you voting for this guy???????

I'm okay with celebs getting their free grab bags of gifts at every turn, but I think it should stop here. If I wanted to adopt a child (which I'm seriously still considering), I would be waiting the better part of 18 months to two years. Angelina picks out kids like I pick out handbags.

DID you watch LOST last night??? Holy cow, this is finally getting good. Check out Shannon's commentary. Don't click the link if you haven't watched your DVR'ed or TIVO'd episode yet.

For the newer mamas out there, check out my bloggy friend Kim's diaper clutch wristlet. She is a very talented handbag designer... and Kim, if you are reading this, if and when I have a need for diapers again (hopefully soon god willing), I'll be signing up for two of these. So darn cute!!!

Got any weekend plans? I actually do for once. Tomorrow, S. and I are heading to a local winery for the weekend for an overnight getaway with my brothers-in-law and their lovely wives (hi, J!) They have an inn on the property, so you know what I'll be doing tomorrow night.... vast quantities of food and drink. Do you think I should count the WW points or not? lol.

Get LOST

As in the TV show, that is.
I have been addicted to this show just as much as I've been addicted to walking in the kitchen and opening my fridge for no reason (if you are not an emotional eater on WW at the moment, you will NOT understand that comment)...

Anyway, since Lost now airs at 10pm ET I go through this weekly ritual now. Watch American Idol (Antonella still can't sing btw) and then TRY to stay awake until 10pm.

I've only been able to keep my eyes open twice, but thanks to DVR (love ya honey) I can now watch it whenever I want in its HDTV glory.

Before I started work today, and after I dropped off David at school, I watched the episode with my Dunkin Donuts coffee (shhhhhhh....)

I am one of those Lost viewers that has been slightly annoyed that the writers still can't throw the TV audience a bone lately. I am all for mysteries.. but I get a little peeved if I don't get some sort of ability to connect the dots on an outstanding question.

Hello? Remember Penny Widmore at the North Pole with the two scientist guys from last season's finale??? Like, 12 episodes and a year ago? What's with that??

But I digress.

Last night's Hurley-centric episode answered nothing really... but I loved it. It was FUNNY and LIGHT-HEARTED and my favorite part was Sawyer's little comments to Hurley, Charlie and Jin. To Jin: "Looks like somebody's hooked on Phonics" To Hurley: "Hey, Snuffy" "What's Jiminy Cricket doin' here?"

As Sawyer and Jin pushed the van, I was waiting for him to say something like... "There goes Scooby and Shaggy in the Mystery Machine, those crazy kids..." well, he didn't, but it was all good.

It's nice to see the writers lighten up a little. And watching them drive that van in circles was a hoot. Hurley is one of my favorite characters, and I loved the idea of Hurley regaining his faith.

"You can make you own luck" as Hurley said. Indeed, something I should remember.

Save me Jack Bauer!

I love this show.

No, really, I LOVE this show.

How does Jack always manage to save the day?

Are you about to be shot by a terrorist? Jack will save you.
Being chased by a criminal on the streets? Don't worry, Jack's got that covered. He's just about to swing by and pick you up in his SUV in about 3 seconds.
Are you being tortured by people who have an exceedingly large bag of torture devices?
No problemo! Jack will save you and bite the neck of your torturer to allow you to escape and run free.

I imagine how much I could use Jack Bauer in my life as a Mom. This guy is useful in so many ways... let me give you a couple of ideas...

Kitchen Fires:
Me: "Jack, help! My skillet caught fire on the stove!"
Jack flies into the kitchen, and puts out the fire with a fire extinguisher and his rippling arm muscles.

Unwanted solicitors at the door:
Me: "Jack help! I don't want to buy meat from this guy... please just get rid of him!"
Jack grabs meat man by the collar and sternly warns him that if he e-v-e-r frequents my doorstep again, he will seek him out and make his life a. living. hell.

Heavy Lifting:
Me: "Jack, I really need to move the China cabinet so I can vacuum the baseboard"
Jack lifts the cabinet with one arm and vacuums under it with the other. Sheer strength. And he doesn't break a sweat.

Taxi services:
Situation: Daycare calls, my son is sick and needs to be picked up and I am in the middle of a conference call.
Jack: "I'll call CTU and have a tac team pick David up with a medical doctor and he will be home in no time".

Disputes with neighbors:
My neighbor has left boxes and trash on my beautifully manicured front lawn (don't laugh, this is true)
Jack [to neighbor]: "Pick up your trash or I will see that you will never mow another lawn.... in... your.. life!"

Personal care:
Me: "I really need a pedicure and manicure, this cold winter weather has really wrecked my nails."
Jack: "I know people that can help you, I'll make a call... just... trust... me".

Putting together toys:
Me: "Jack, I need your help to put together David's Dinosaur Kingdom Set."
Jack: "Let me get Chloe on the phone. 'Chloe, can you pull up the schematics for a "Dinosaur Kingdom" and use the satellite to get the coordinates for the nearest Home Depot, I think I need an allen wrench for this one'".

See? See how much Jack can help?

Well, you can't have him. After he is retired with the TV series, he's mine. Of course, you are free to visit me to have lunch on the porch.

Jack grills a mean burger too....

The best of: David TV

What is a three year old toddler watching these days on TV?

My son is the conoisseur of the PBS Kids Sprout channel. He's a cartoon snob, can't get him to watch Nick Jr or Disney anymore, it's all about PBS.

Here is a list of his favorites he likes to watch as he sits back with this "2007 Reserve" cup of Apple Juice:

Kipper: He's a dog with friends, and an annoyingly cute theme song.

Fireman Sam: What's life without firetrucks? David has been watching this show the longest. Interesting viewing for parents who always wondered what's going on in Wales. Apparently, the world revolves around Sam and an Italian restaurant (go figure). Let's not forget Norman's Mom who looks AND sounds suspiciously like Dana Carvey's Church Lady (from SNL)... or a cross-dressing George Bush.

Caillou: ah yes, the ever-present Caillou. I think I know all 50 episodes by heart. Poor sister Rosie is always pushed off to the side while Caillou whines to his parents on each episode. What is with this family? At least the cat, Gilbert, Rexy the Dinosaur, and Teddy (the bear) offer mild entertainment between sketches.

Mommy wars

If you've been lurking around the blogosphere of mommy blogs, then you already know about the scandal that came of the original Today Show segment in January on "Cocktail Playdates" and the drama that ensued.

Well, if you missed it, Part II in the debate aired on the Today show yesterday this time with fellow mommy blogger Stefanie Wilder-Taylor facing Meredith Viera and Dr. Janet Taylor. See the video here>>> http://video.msn.com/v/us/msnbc.htm?g=0a81cac1-52ad-4d34-84d3-5a4dfcea6d43&f=05&fg=copy

I have to say, I am surprised how much talk this stimulated, and of the negative kind.... it does seem like this topic propelled an interesting conversation into Mom-on-Mom bashing. Which is sad, because we are all in this together, after all.

Stefanie was right, who needs another thing to feel guilty about as a Mom. I don't see anything wrong with having a glass of wine in front of my son. I am showing him moderation. It's not like we are swilling a bottle and hanging from the chandeliers....

Some of these people who are condemning women who have an occasional drink in the company of a child need to lighten up. There is a stop point, and no responsible Mom will deliberately get rip-roaring drunk. I said responsible, which in my heart of hearts I believe applies to most of us level-headed women.

I am okay with the idea of a designated parent.... many times hubby and I go to dinner with my son, and one of us will stop after ONE drink, because it's the right thing to do.

And I do think there is a double-standard when it comes to Moms vs. Dads. How many Dads do you think flung back a few beers on Superbowl Sunday in the company of their kids? Where's the hub-bub on that??

As a Mom, I try very hard to not make judgements about other Moms... because I certainly don't want them judging me. Not that that hasn't happened in the past... look at the subject of breastfeeding (there are plenty of Moms that pointed me in the direction of hell for bottle feeding my son). But I forgive them, and my son is just fine.

Let's stop bitch-slapping each other and say what we all feel... parenting is hard. Harder still is appearing perfect all day/every day. Our kids want to look up to us, and having one drink is not making us lesser role-models to them. It makes us human.

Cheers

Remember the 90's

I had such a crush on Luke Perry. I named my cat after Luke Perry. My cat is now 14 years old! And Luke Perry is over 40 (YAY still older than me!!!)

Anyone in my age group (rapidly approaching the late, late, thirties thankyouverymuch) will fondly remember 90210. This was a show that defined my 20's. I watched it religiously (Melrose Place too).

The Peach Pit Gang is out promoting their first season DVD (why did that take so darn long?)

So we all know what the old cast members have been up to, but what's with Andrea? Did she ever do anything beyond that show? :)

Cute handbag Betty!

If you aren't watching ABC's newest show Ugly Betty, you should... so cute, I love it.

Betty is presented as "fashion-challenged" on the show, but I spotted Betty with a cool "very fashionable" handbag in a recent episode!!

It's the Lucky Brand Jeans Large Patchwork Mailbag. And, you can fetch it at Macy's on-line, which I already did!!!
