Careful what you wish for

Did I say I was bummed that I was not experiencing any symptoms from the meds? I'll spare you the gory details, but suffice to say I was thisclose to waking up S. and begging him to take me to the hospital.

But enough about that, I'm in the general session of BlogHer in SL... very cool. Blog you about it later!

counting down

So, the week is drawing to another close. My parents are taking David away for the entire weekend (they are heading to the beach). Normally, I would be all excited about the upcoming prospect of being alone with S., but I am still in a crummy mood.

Dr. V called out of the blue yesterday. Wanted to see how I was doing. His words were... "I usually have my nurses call to see how you are doing, but I feel personally responsible for you."

haha HA HA. Loved that.

Besides severe intestinal distress, I felt no different after taking the Cytotec. Still spotting and the like, of varying intensity, but not really feeling like I thought I would. I guess I was waiting for the floodgates to open, and that just didn't happen.

So we wait until Tuesday, and if needed, get some "stronger" meds. Hoping the u/s shows this pregnancy disappearing by then. Hopefully.

So, as far as the weekend goes, it would have been nice for hubby and I to get away (by that I mean, drive the car somewhere FAR away from here), but we have a couple social commitments around town. He is going out after work tomorrow for a "goodbye" get-together for one of his employees that left the business. Saturday, we are going over to our neighbors for a party. Sunday, we have a picnic at a local winery.

ok, so it's not a terrible weekend, but I'll try to get by. ;-)

BlogHer Envy

I was scheduled to be in Raleigh this week for work (for a huge meeting) but my meeting was cancelled. Which is a bummer, since I would have loved to fly out to Chicago to attend the BlogHer Conference this week.

Many of my bloggy acquaintances are going, and I will miss the opportunity to meet them in person!

However, I do plan to attend via SecondLife.... which if you don't know I won't bother explaining. It's too hard to wrap your head around it, even for a techie like me. I've spent the better part of yesterday trying to find something for my avatar to wear which doesn't make me appear as a two dollar hooker. For you SL people, you know what I mean.

So, safe travels to my buddies that are going! I want to hear the stories... and, if you are looking for me virtually in SL on Friday, my avatar name is QueenMaryRose Ashby... and I'll be the one trying to not look like a hooker.

:-)

Happy Birthday to me

This is the last birthday I will celebrate. From now on, I will be counting backwards with the goal of reaching my 29th birthday in 10 years. :-)

This isn't the best birthday I've had considering the drama of the week, however, I am in good spirits knowing I have a lot of cyber friends who wish me luck and good cheer.

So, thanks to all of you... friends new and old.

New year, new makeover

I hate the look of my blog, not as visually appealing as I would like. I am not an HTML expert, and no way I want to be one either (heaven knows working in the technology industry has zapped the ever-loving life out of me to do anything creative). So, I am currently looking to give BagMomma a makeover. Stay tuned, I am hoping for a new look over the next month!!

Rehab here I come

Or I should say, rehab for food junkies like me. Yes, I am going back to Weight Watchers this week.

Yeah, it's on my list of resolutions, and don't laugh, I am back on the wagon for like the 100th time.... but better to try than do nothing, right?

After all, I've got a bathing suit I have to fit in for vacation.... in MAY.

Heaven help me....!

It's here! My lucky year!

Ok, forgive me for being overly optimistic. But as I noted in my previous post, positivity will be the word around here until further notice.

Until then, please excuse me, I'm off for a celebratory latte... I'm still on the clock after all.

Back tomorrow!

Merry Christmas

From the classic "A Charlie Brown Christmas":

Charlie Brown: [shouting in desperation] Isn't there anyone out there who can tell me what Christmas is all about?

Linus Van Pelt: Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you. Lights, please. [a spotlight shines on Linus]
Linus Van Pelt: "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them, and they were afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day is born in the City of Bethlehem, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men'". That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie brown.

To you and yours, a very Merry Christmas!

Last night

Well, since I talked so much about the non-holiday show at David's preschool, I am sharing pictures.

Yep, he was a snowman.

It was a cute show, but it was crammed with parents, grandparents, siblings, and video cameras... so the poor kids ended up a little stage-shy.

David, however, was a ham as usual!

What's BagMomma been up to?

Well, I've not had much time to lurk in my usual places or post here because this week has been a busy one.

Hubby is home on vacation, so inbetween my work, we've been taking the little guy on some short trips to get in the festive spirit.

Last evening we went to StoryBook Land. Now, for you Philly/Jersey folks, you probably know it well. It's a mighty cute themepark designed for toddlers- just outside Atlantic City, NJ.

Around the holidays, they light the whole place up.. the landscaping, the rides... and they even have some fake snow machines to dust the park with snow.

We picked to go on a Thursday night thinking the crowds would be a lot less than the weekends, and it was really nice.
The only downside to the night was I couldn't get very good pictures because it was sooooo foggy, the camera couldn't handle it.

If you live in the DE,PA, NJ, NY area- I highly suggest it. Lots of fun and merriment abound.

"Winter" Celebration

That's what my son's preschool is referring to for their "holiday" show. Nope, can't call it "holiday"... they could potentially piss off someone who's culture/religion does not have a holiday in December. So all us Christians, Jews, and Kwanzaa celebrating folks are out of luck.

I dropped David off at school today. When we walked to his classroom, there was "O Little Town of Bethlehem" playing on the satellite radio pumped through all the school speakers (usually it's Barney, Sesame Street, Wiggles) but today they had on ACK! The holiday channel on XM radio. Someone will be fired for that, I'm sure!

David turns to me and says, "Mommy, they are playing baby Jesus music, that's not allowed".

And I cringed.

Why is our world reduced to this ultra-PC mentality?

What happened to opening the eyes of children to all customs and celebrations???

When did Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa become a four-letter word?

I want to expose my child to all religions, all cultures, all customs... and I am livid that this school ignores everything.

So, on my way out, I asked the Director about this policy. She was upset herself, and said that the owners of the school had decided that since they were worried they'd miss some culture/custom they didn't know about, they put the AX to all of it.

So, my son's holiday, I mean, WINTER show will be as sanitary as clorox bleach.

Just Jingle Bells and Frosty the Snowman.

What about the people who don't like bells and snow? I'm sure they'll be in a huff too... perhaps we should do away with that too.

Oh, and by the way, I asked the Director of the school if they ever had a parent complain about their display of one holiday or another, and her answer was (in 7 years of existence) NEVER.

She has however, had no less than 20 parents complain about ignoring the holiday season entirely.

I wonder why the school is still CLOSED for the week of Christmas. And I still have to pay tuition for that week the teachers are off.

hmmmm...

Turkey planning time

Time to break out the recipes for Thanksgiving. This year, I am in need of some good side-dishes. If you have one that is a hit at your table, please e-mail me the recipe. I always have a sort of mental block when it comes to sides.
I am having dinner for 15 people (basically mine and hubby's immediate family). I finally have table seating for all this year, which will be nice. If only my kitchen were bigger!

Happy Halloween

David went to preschool this morning dressed as a skeleton. Later, he is getting dressed up as a pirate, but he doesn't refer to the costume as a pirate.... he's going to be Johnny Depp!

Have a safe and happy Halloween.

TGIF

Enjoy your weekend friends.
Doesn't my little guy look like he's having fun? This was from a hayride last weekend at yet another farm. David just can't get enough of cows and tractors. Future farmer I suppose.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

and now, a break for this important PSA from BagMomma

Please ladies, remember your self breast exams and mammograms... remind your mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters and friends too.

More than the color for breast cancer awareness, pink represents the promise between two sisters to find a cure for breast cancer. That promise started the Komen Foundation and ignited the passion of millions to create a world without breast cancer. Are you passionate? Passionately Pink for the Cure™ is a new, year-round fundraising and education program kicking off October 1, 2006, in conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The program encourages companies, schools and organizations to take that promise, make it their own, and make a difference by supporting breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. Breast cancer touches millions of lives.

It is expected that 211,200 women and 1,720 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and more than 41,000 people will die from breast cancer in 2006 alone. One by one, we can make a difference! Passionately Pink for the Cure™ is an easy, creative program we hope will have everyone seeing pink everywhere you look, every day in October, encouraging millions of people nationwide to get involved in the promise for the cure. We hope to raise $10 million through the Passionately Pink for the Cure™ program with your help. Click here to learn more about the program.
